With our concept of Soft Computing, our research focuses on different interaction settings, starting from the fundamentals of soft object measurement. ![]() Living Lab Tokyo aims to create a space for researchers to collaborate with users, to create new innovations, utilizing new technologies and products. We create location oriented description service based on smartphone probe vehicle system. The project purpose is to create new service platform developing the usage of “BIG DATA” made from human mobility. To realize and practical use of real-time information sharing environment via the Internet, we evaluate in the race event. K4-GP is a test bed for Global computing, Media Telescope and UMRCOT. So both tools and services have simple input interface. ![]() Our goal is to create the universal media communication environment, which can combine “Network” and “Real World” very friendly. We collect and analyze the information via the Internet, then visualize and predict trends to create new services that impact society and improve our daily life. In order to realize the remote communication without any professional skills or knowledge, we develop effective video collaboration environment for various platforms. "Minamiaso Village Grassland Regeneration & Akaushi Revival Project" Launched Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., supporting the purpose of the project, implements corporate version of hometown tax donations. "Minamiaso Village Grassland Regeneration & Akaushi Revival Project" Launched to Achieve Sustainable Regional Development through Ethical Livestock Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, Keio University Graduate School of Media Design, and Kumamoto Prefecture Livestock Agriculture Cooperative Association start initiative aiming for the production of "Kumamoto Akaushi" that meets ethical consumption and grassland environmental conservation. Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration Agreement Signed to Create "Ethical Livestock Industry" Utilizing Aso Grasslands The project conducts demonstration experiments towards realizing sustainable living throughout Saga Prefecture by integrating each company's services. Through scenario analysis for encouraging ethical activities, such as energy-saving measures using storage batteries, IoT homes, and point services, the project supports the efforts of local industries aiming for zero carbon emissions with initiatives like "SAGA COLLECTIVE" that utilize services such as "Furusato Package." Working together with Daiwa Living Co., Ltd., JAPAN POST HOLDINGS Co., Ltd., Hiramatsu Inc., KDDI Corporation, and others, the project is currently demonstrating initiatives for promoting ethical behavior changes both indoors and outdoors among the residents and revitalizing local industries. We begin by formulating plans and conducting studies, producing prototypes iteratively until we arrive at a final, concrete result.Īiming to implement a sustainable society where the environment, society, and industry are interconnected, this project is a social implementation model in collaboration with Saga Prefecture, local industries, and companies from outside the region. Projects done in collaboration with companies, in particular, are not merely sponsorships, but opportunities to tackle the challenges that the companies face or anticipate they will face in the future. Most of our current Real Projects are collaborations between KMD and outside institutions in industry and government. ![]() Real Projects are not only a field to gain practice in the creation of social impact, they are also a frontline of creative research. KMD does not consider actual practice to be different from academic and theoretical exploration. Students use the results of their Real Projects to write their Master's theses. All Master’s Program students participate under the direction of full-time faculty to create innovations that tap into cutting-edge technologies and social trends. Since its founding in 2008, KMD has placed Real Projects at the core of its activities and curriculum. ![]()
